This week we read books about different kinds of houses and talked about how our own families and houses are unique. With this in mind, the kids began a project building a house of their own. They learned how to use a low temp glue gun and got to work using pieces of wood and putting them together. The next step will be painting their houses and adding clothespin family members.
We also played some fun games, such as Who Lives Where?
The kids loved lifting up the roofs of the wooden houses and matching up the animals that were inside.
Another type of house sat on our building table and featured fairies, flowers and jewels. The kids loved the imaginative play they did there.
Another highlight was the slime on the light table. Slime provides a unique sensory experience and even though not all the kids love the feeling of slime, they definitely were all curious! ;)
In the water tub, the children found water pumps, jugs and buckets. The water pumps take some coordination and it was great to see a lot of the kids' interest in working them and exploring them.
The texture table was peppered with plastic bugs, buckets, and windmills.
The Creation Station remains a very popular spot.
At carpet time, we danced with bean bags, learned a new song about seeds growing, heard stories, and shared houses.
Here are some more pictures of these sweet kids.
Wow, this class has come so far and we are SO proud of them. They are doing such a great job sitting at story time, following the routines of the day, and trying things that might be out of their comfort zone.
Next week, the kids will put the finishing touches on their houses and more. Looking forward to seeing you all!
Best,
Sheri and Lisa
