Happy Mother's Day from the YC! - Teacher Sheri

It looks and feels like spring is in full bloom! We had a wonderful week enjoying activities in our room, spending time in the beautiful sunshine, and making bouquets for all you special moms!

When the kids arrived on Tuesday, these are some of the things they found around the room:

Flowers in the texture tub were there for the kids to arrange and make bouquets with.

In the water tub, we had a baby washing station!

The light table had models of the butterfly and frog life cycles.

The kids could play with the dollhouse, people, and furniture at the building table.

Speaking of building, we have noticed the children bringing out and playing with the wooden blocks more!

We also saw a lot of creation station, painting, and play dough happening!

The kids have found their stride playing in the room and with each other.

On Tuesday, our parent helper assisted the children in making their own face collage. The kids looked at themselves in the mirror, noticing skin color, eye color and hair. You can see them hanging on our wall!

At our other activity table, the kids played a flower matching game. They had to look at a picture card and determine which pieces they needed to replicate the flower.

On Thursday, the room was transformed into a flower shop and it smelled and looked amazing! The kids first wrapped their Mother's Day gifts...

...then they chose flowers to make a beautiful bouquet for their Moms.

They looked so sweet holding their flowers!

At carpet time, we danced with bean bags to the beanie bag dance!

We sang songs and read stories about family and babies. The kids enjoyed matching baby animals to their mamas.

Have your kids tell you all the things they did to help the baby sleep in the "Put the Baby in the Bed" song!

We're having lots of fun learning about each other, as the boys and girls continue to share their houses.

All in all, it was a wonderful and beautiful week.

Next week, we are so excited to sit with the butterflies...a couple of them have already hatched out of their cocoons!

Until then, take care!

Sheri and Lisa
