Babies and butterflies in the OC- Teacher Meghan

This week was full of babies, bugs and butterflies! The kids got to create their own bug, go on a scavenger hunt and wash babies in our water tub. It was a week packed full of fun.

Our butterflies have hatched! The kids loved observing them and are so excited that they will get a chance to hold them on Monday.

The water tub was a popular spot this week. The kids got busy washing, scrubbing and cleaning babies. After a good soaping up the kids loved drying and diapering the babies too.

We had silk flowers and vases in the texture table. The kids got busy creating bouquets for each other.

On our light table we had the the life cycle of frogs and butterflies.

A fairy and gnome garden appeared on our building table.

The kids turned into butterflies on the flannel board.

The kids also enjoyed retelling the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar on our mobile flannel board.

We had a couple of bug themed games that the kids loved playing with each other this week.

Butterflies, unicorns and rainbows kept little hands busy at creation station.

Play dough is always a popular spot in the room.

Here is a peek at your sweet kids at play.

Mabel  received lots of snuggles this week.

On Monday the kids learned how to play a game called, "The Honey Bee Tree".  This was available for play in the room for the rest of the week.

Our second activity on Monday was creating butterflies. We talked about  how butterfly wings are symmetrical and encouraged the kids to create matching wings.

On Wednesday we had a really fun two part project. First the kids collected things in nature that they thought would make a good habitat for a bug.

When the kids returned to the classroom they got a chance to create a bug out of model magic to put in their habitat. The kids loved this activity and put in a lot of effort and creativity when making their bugs. These creations are all on display in the hallway. Come take a look when you have a moment.

On Friday the kids started a three-part project. The first step of this project was to create a black line drawing of their faces.

Our second activity was to go on a scavenger hunt in the courtyard. The kids loved finding all the items we had hidden in the courtyard.

During circle time this week we told the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar in three different ways.

We learned a new song called "Make New Friends".

And we celebrated a birthday!

We always love hearing about Panda's adventures.

We learned the Christmas version of the "Wheels on the Bus" during library this week.

We had such a fun week with your kids. We are so excited to hold butterflies with them on Monday.
Hugs,
Meghan and Christine
