This week we made story bags to tell the beloved story of the very hungry caterpillar. On Tuesday, the kids made pom pom caterpillars in bright colors.
For the second part of the story bag, the kids created a butterfly out of a plastic sandwich bag, colorful tissue paper, pipe cleaners, and beads.
We filled the texture table with silk flowers and vases and the kids loved making beautiful bouquets.
The water tub became a giant bathtub for some sweet doll babies and the kids practiced bathing, drying, diapering, feeding and brushing the babies' hair.
These kids are so creative with the play dough!
We set out butterflies, unicorns, and rainbows at the creation station this week. As you can imagine, this was a very exciting addition to our art table!
We had frogs, butterflies, and lily pads at the light table this week.
Fairies and flowers moved in to the doll house!
Story time in the book nook is so special. :)
We turned the kids into butterflies on the flannel board!
Here is a look at your sweet kids playing around the room. At this point in the year, the kids are so comfortable with all of the toys and stations and simply love imaginative play with all of their friends.
At circle time, we read the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar and told the story with puppets as well as flannel board pictures. They really enjoyed the many different ways to tell this classic story!
We sang a fun song called "Put the Baby in the Bed" and "Herman the Worm" as well as a new finger play about buzzing bees.
We also had the good fortune to celebrate three special birthdays at school this week!
We all love learning more about your children and their wonderful families! Their baby pictures are so sweet and the kids are doing a great job telling about their homes and loved ones.
The kids love to listen to stories and we read a few fun ones like Once There was a Bull...Frog and Where is My Hat?
The kids had a lot of energy during recess this week! The cooler temperatures are definitely welcome after the hot weather last week.
On Tuesday, the children will get to hold the beautiful butterflies!
See you all on soon!
Christine and Meghan
