The OC Goes Grocery Shopping! - Teacher Sheri

The Small Friends Grocery Store was stocked with food and open for customers when the kids arrived on Monday! They loved shopping, checking, and bagging up their goods.

In addition to our Grocery Store, other areas of the room featured different modes of transportation. In the texture table, there was an assortment of big trucks, while boats and bears filled the water tub.

The kids had even more fun with transportation using the standing steering wheels, complete with a gas pedal. There was so much role playing and driving of make believe buses, cars, and rocket ships.

A set of magnetic car building pieces was out for those interested in putting together and creating different cars.

One of the highlights this week was the collaboration and creation of our Community wall! It began with sky and a road and ended up full of inspiration from every child.

We also looked at things that fly this week! First, they folded and decorated paper airplanes.

Then, they flew the airplanes in the hallway and outside.

On the next school day, they wanted to make more and fly them again.

Later in the week, they took a stomp rocket outside!

Two very important skills we worked on this week were letter formation and writing numbers. The first activity with letter building was a way for the kids to visualize and form the letters using different acrylic shapes.

The second one was writing numbers and for many it was the first time doing this. We are so proud of their efforts and how they did! They wrote or traced numbers 1-24, which is how many eggs we have in the incubator. Then, they chose a paper egg and wrote the number of eggs they predict will hatch!

Meanwhile, kids were keeping busy holding Ginger and Scarlet, playing playdough, creating, building, and more.

We were lucky to get some good days outside to play as well!

At carpet time, we played shakers and danced to "I Like to Eat Apples and Bananas" and "Butterfly Driving a Truck." We also learned the song, "On Top of Spaghetti." See if your kids remember all the things that happen to the meatball!

We also continue doing yoga and are learning to breath between each pose!

The kids LOVED acting or being an audience member in a re-enactment of the story Benny's Pennies, about a little boy who buys something special for everyone in his family.

And the kids are doing so well talking about their adventures with Panda!

We ended our week reading a book about different jobs people have in our community and at Friendship Circle the kids shared what job they might want to do when they are grown ups. This circle is such a sweet time and we love listening to their ideas!

What a fun week. ;) And we have much to look forward to next week as we dive into the sea for our Ocean theme!

Take care and see you all soon,

Sheri and Lisa
