Elephants and Tigers in the OC! Teachers Christine and Meghan

We had a fantastic week in the OC and the chidlren are exploring all of the fun stations in our classroom and making new friendships.

This week was all about tigers and elephants with a dash of sunflower art, too. :)

On Monday the kids finished up our sunflower unit by observing several drawings of a sunflower and using pen and watercolor to create their own beautiful sunflower art.

On Wednesay, we used special paint brushes to pretend we were elephants painting with our trunks! This art project was inspired by a book that we read at circle time about elephants who paint. It was a fun activity and inspired the kids to use creation station materials to make their own feather paint brushes!

On Friday we imagined who we would invite to tea based on the book The Tiger Who Came to Tea. Teacher Meghan wrote down what each child said and then they decorated their pages. These will go in their art portfolios!

This week our water tub had tigers, a tea set, and polly pockets to play with.

The texture table was full of wild animals!

The playdough station is always popular and a fun place to play on your own or with friends!

This week, we had magna tiles on the light table and the kids LOVED building with these fun materials!

At our creation station we had dobbers, elephant cut outs, paper rolls, gems, and lots of other materials to work with. These sweet kids sure love to make art. :)

At our fine motor table we had lint rollers out to catch small pieces of colorful pipe cleaners and then collect them in a container. We also had oval rings that the kids used to make bracelets and necklaces! These were a huge hit and great for fine motor practice.

The kids love petting Baby Mabel!

Here are some pictures of your sweet children playing around the room!

We had a lot of fun at circle time this week! We learned a silly song about elephants who jumped on a spider web and sang one of our favorite finger plays about two little blackbirds. We also learned circus yoga and enjoyed story time, playing with rhythm sticks, and dancing.

The kids love to run, play, and swing at recess! We are all grateful for the cooler fall weather. :)

We had a wonderful third week with your amazing children! Next week, is circus week!

Warmly,
Christine and Meghan
