This week the kids did a multi-day project building haunted houses. On Monday the kids created their structures using a cardboard base, varying sizes of wood pieces and hot glue. These kids know their way around hot glue gun!
On Wednesday the kids painted their structures and added some glitter.
On Friday they added spooky features, including spider webs, skeletons and bugs. These super cool houses are finished and will be ready to go home on Monday morning!
The spooky fun continued throughout the classroom.
On the building table we had a haunted house that the kids had the opportunity to engage in dramatic play using a variety of different spooky creatures that they moved about the house.
On the light table the kids saved bugs from a spider's web.
We added more fun features to our texture table this week including bendable skeletons and pumpkins with lids.
At creation station we had ghost and pumpkin bases that the kids used to create different collages. Making bracelets with beads and pipe cleaners was also a popular activity this week.
The kids are having a blast exploring the dress up area. We had a lot of fire fighters keeping us safe this week.
We love observing the interactions that are naturally occurring between the kids. They are so excited to see each other and play together each school day.
At circle time we introduced a new instrument this week... the drums. The kids have done a great job playing them gently and taking turns on the big drums we have in the room.
Next week we will wrap up the Halloween fun with a party on Friday the 29th. Between now and then we have a ton of spooky, creepy crawly activities to keep the kids engaged and learning.
