The Circus Came To Town in the OC- Meghan and Christine

Our circus theme has been so much fun to experience with the kids. This week ice cream, popcorn and clowns took center stage.

On Monday we taught the kids two new games that focused on counting, one-to-one correspondence and number recognition.

One game involved unlocking different animals from cages after matching up the numeral lock with the correct number of dots on a key. This activity was inspired by a book we read during circle time titled "Good Night Gorilla".

Our second game involved making a ice cream sundae. The kids would roll a die and then put the corresponding number of ice cream scoops onto their ice cream sundae.

On Wednesday we did an art project that involved blowing tons of bubbles! (We were socially distanced and next to an open window). Everyone got a turn using their straw to blow a mountain of bubbles which we then made prints of on paper.

We had an ice cream making factory in our water tub this week with cloud dough, sprinkles, cones and scoops.

In our texture table we had all the fixings for a popcorn party.

At the light table we had colorful discs and translucent balloons for the kids to sort and match.

On the building table we had clown builders.

At creation station we had all the makings for an ice cream cone. Kids had the opportunity to practice scissors skills by cutting out cones traced on brightly colored paper.

Here are some pictures of your children at play around the classroom.

During circle time a few of the activities this week included acting out the book, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?", learning a popcorn song using scarfs and listening to Teacher Christine tell a story about a circus as she created a clown's face.

The kids love their time out on the playground!

We love spending our days with your children. We had so much fun with our circus theme and can't wait for a little spooky fun as we get in the mood for Halloween!
See you on Monday,
Meghan and Christine
