Fun With Monsters in our YC - Teachers Lisa and Jelena

We had fun with monsters this week! On Tuesday we did a fold-over painting project, creating some very whimsical monsters to hang in our classroom.

Thursday we played a game called, "Go Away, Monster!". Children pulled objects out of a bag that were either items for their game board or monsters. Monsters were thrown into a cauldron with a hearty, "Go away monster!"

There were items frozen in a huge block of ice at the water table. Children sprinkled salt and sprayed water over the top, creating cool cracks and crevices until they could use tweezers or their fingers to pull the items out.

Purple slime oozed across the light table.

Spooky black play dough was perfect for monsters or creepy Halloween treats.

There were monster and skeleton builder toys out at our building table and all kinds of creative creatures appeared!

Here are some of the other things children enjoyed this week during their free play time:

At story time we fed shapes to Shape Monster, heard a cut-and-tell story about a little mouse and a Jack-o'-lantern, read books, played instruments and did the Bean Bag Boogie.

And finally, here are a few pictures from our outside play time:

We're looking forward to one more week of Halloween fun! Don't forget that everyone is invited to wear their costumes to school on Thursday and should bring a juice box or pouch for our magic brew :).

Thanks for sharing your wonderful children with us - we love our mornings with them!

We'll see you Tuesday,
Lisa and Jelena
