Our last week of the circus theme saw us enjoying another trip to Hawaii where hats and fancy dress were mandatory. While in Hawaii we had tea at the water table, took in a puppet show and of course there was a karaoke/lounge act!!
We read the book The Tiger Who Came to Tea last Friday. On Monday Teacher Lisa asked the students who they would invite to tea. Their responses were recorded and the students drew their guests to be included in their art portfolio.
At the texture table, the wild animals were out!
The light and building tables were bright and colorful picking up, stacking, building fun for some fine motor skill development!
As always, lots of books…
Music, yoga and activities at the rug…
No circus would be complete without elephant painting! On Wednesday the students used a feather “trunk” to make art like the elephants from our book ELEPHANTS CAN PAINT TOO and these will be added to their art portfolios.
We read the book Caps for Sale and the kids enjoyed acting it out. As our tired peddler rested, the monkeys up in the tree (aka the loft) stole all the caps. When our peddler was at her wits end trying to get the monkeys to return the caps, she threw her own cap to the ground in frustration and so the monkeys mimicked that and threw their stolen caps down from the loft.
Having fun around the classroom…
Recess without coats, at least for now!
The circus has left the OC to be replaced by pumpkins and Halloween! Exciting new activities to explore in the classroom next week. We’re looking forward to all the fun!
