What a fun week we had celebrating Halloween! On Monday we made tape monsters. This was a great way to help all of the kids learn how to use our tape dispenser and also work on some cutting skills.
On Wednesday we put out some pumpkins and safe carving tools so that the kids could cut, carve and scoop out pumpkins.
There were also pumpkins on our building table, along with hammers, nails and golf tees.
There were watercolor palettes at the light table with bats for painting.
Several of the activities that we did during our group time last week were out for the children to use independently. They played a shape naming game with Shape Monster and retold a story with ghost stick puppets. Some also cut Jack-o'Lanterns from our cut-and-tell story and then decorated them.
Animorphs were a new toy out in our fine motor area and the kids really enjoyed making all kinds of imaginary creatures.
During our story time we did some Halloween Yoga - see if your child can do these poses for you: ghost, seeing the moon, crooked tree, witch on a broom, and bat.
Of course, the best day of all was Friday when the kids got to come to school dressed in their Halloween costumes. They made magic potions to bring home.
Then at snack time we used the juice they brought to make a delicious magic brew. Everyone got to try some. It was such a fun day!
As we roll into November, we're looking forward to activities with squirrels, leaves and all things Autumn. We hope you had a great Halloween weekend and we'll see you Wednesday!
