The Circus is in Town! Teachers Lisa and Jelena (OC)

The circus is in town! Look who we found clowning around :) ...

Some of the things we're doing with this theme include popcorn containers in our texture table and cloud dough "ice cream" in the water tub.

There were also ice cream cones to glue and decorate at our creation station and an ice cream game to play at the table.

There were clown builders out on the building table and barrels of monkeys to string together.

At the light table children could sort and organize rainbow colored chips in a variety of different ways.

We read Goodnight Gorilla about a sneaky gorilla who releases all of the animals at the zoo and then had our own little caged animals for children to set free by matching sets of dots with written numerals. A fun way to build number concept and get some fine motor practice!

On Monday we wrapped up our sunflower theme by drawing and painting sunflowers. You may have seen these on display in the hallway - they look wonderful! We were really proud of everyone's hard work.

Wednesday we had a fun circus obstacle course outside. Children could wear clown wigs, walk the "tight rope", crawl through a tunnel, ride bikes, gallop around on animals and ride scooters. What a show!

On Friday we blew bubbles, bubbles, BUBBLES! (We were socially distanced and next to an open window). Everyone got a turn using their straw to blow a mountain of bubbles which we then made prints of on paper. They will bring these home next week.

Here are some of the other things your children enjoyed during our free play time:

During our time together at the carpet, we did a couple of different stick songs, danced with our shakers to a song about ice cream, read all kinds of stories, did some wild animal yoga, and took turns popping out of a box.

After a very wet Monday, we were grateful for better weather on Wednesday and Friday!

We've got more circus fun ahead this week! See you under the big top!

:) Teachers Lisa and Jelena
