Small Friends & Monsters in the YC! - Teacher Sheri

This is the best time of year to have fun with silly, colorful, spooky monsters! Monster games and art were just two of the Halloween inspired things the kids did this week - take a look!

You'll see some pretty colorful monsters hanging on the wall in the classroom. The kids first squeezed colorful paint on paper and folded it over to make a symmetrical and colorful pattern.

Then they embellished the paper with monster features like teeth, eyes, feathers, and horns!

The children worked on shape recognition and fed shapes to a hungry monster in the Shape Monster game.

They also played a matching game called Go Away Monster!

We learned three new fun songs and poems, Five Little Pumpkins, Late Last Night, and Pumpkin Vine. See if your kids remember how some of these go! We also played more with scarves.

A huge hit this week was excavating Halloween knick-knacks frozen in ice! Armed with cups, spray bottles, and tweezers they worked hard to get all the pieces out.

Another favorite spot was the light table where they could cut, mold, and squish flubber.

The kids made tons of artwork at creation station, played with playdough, and just generally had fun!

Next week, we will have real pumpkins in the room, spaghetti in the water tub, and much more!

Until then, take care!

Sheri and Lisa
