Ice cream and Clowns in the YC! - Teacher Christine

We went to the circus this week in our Small Friends YC classroom! On Tuesday, the children created beautiful balloon art in hues of pink, red, orange and white. They had a lot of fun using balloons as their paint brushes!

Our second activity on Tuesday was to create a circus train out of Legos and circus animals. The kids did a great job creating tracks and setting up the train.

On Thursday we made clown squishy bags! The children got to choose colorful googly eyes, a puff ball nose, and a rubber band mouth to add to a small bag with clear gel to make a squishy clown face!

Also on Thursday, we set up a circus obstacle course in our hallway. The children loved bouncing, scooting, jumping, and crawling as they made their way through each of the activities. :)

The kids were thrilled to discover cloud dough ice cream in our water tub this week. They spent hours scooping all kinds of delicious ice cream creations for their teachers and friends.

We had clown builders at our building table.

The kids are having so much fun exploring our classroom and playing together. Here is a look at all of the fun they're having around the room!

At circle time this week we read a sweet book called The Blue Balloon and one of our favorite books, Goodnight, Gorilla. We read a silly book about a dog called Good Boy Fergus and in preparation for our ice cream social, an Elephant and Piggie book called Should I Share My Ice Cream?.

We also sang songs about popcorn and continued to learn different breaths to help calm our bodies. This week used a breathing ball to help guide our breath.

We love to dance and make music at circle time, too!

The highlight of the week was our annual ice cream social with BJ the Clown, face painters, and ice cream sundaes! It was wonderful to see everyone having so much fun! Thank you all for coming and to the Hospitality Committee for all of your help!

We lucked out again with beautiful weather for recess! The children love to run, swing, and explore the play structure.

Next week we start gearing up for more fall fun with bats and spiders!

See you all on Tuesday!
Christine and Meghan
