At our texture table there were pumpkin containers of various shapes and sizes.
The kids helped lots of spooky spiders swoosh down the water spout in our water tub this week.
At our flannel board we had a giant spider web made out of a hula hoop and yarn. This was perfect for catching lots of bugs.
At our light table we had all the elements for spooky jack-o-lantern faces.
Tape mummies and spooky bats were very popular at creation station.
Friends kept busy with fine motor activities all around the classroom.
Lots of crazy creations were being made at the play dough table this week.
We had bug builders and bones at the building table.
Lots of collaborative and imaginative play was happening all over.
Pickles the fish got lots of love, attention and FOOD throughout the week.
In celebration of our circus unit and ice cream social we let the kids unleash their creative genius and gave them a turn painting their own faces.
On Monday the kids put a sunflower and a clown nose (red puffball) in their memory box. Each month the kids will put in new items to help them remember special moments during their year at Small Friends.
On Wednesday the kids made spider webs by weaving yarn through holes in the edge of a paper plate. These made the perfect home for their spiders. This was such a fun way to practice hand eye coordination and fine motor skills.
Our second activity on Wednesday was planting flower bulbs in our garden. The kids LOVED digging in the dirt and watering their newly planted bulbs. It will be fun to watch for the flowers to bloom in the spring.
At circle time this week we recited the "Five Little Pumpkins" poem, celebrated a birthday, sangs some silly songs about spiders, did a Halloween yoga sequence and so much more.
We had our first wet recess this week!
We had such a fun week with your kids. We are looking forward to starting a spooky haunted house project with the kids on Monday.
