Pumpkins and a Haunted Tunnel in the YC! - Teacher Christine

We had a marvelous week in the YC! We kicked our Halloween fun into high gear with a haunted tunnel on Tuesday and kept things going with pumpkin art, Halloween books and lots of spooky fun!

The kids had a great time exploring our spooky haunted tunnel! They had such a blast going through the tunnel with flashlights and noticing all of the fun decorations inside. Many chose to go over and over again!

Also on Tuesday, we had fun creating patterns with fly swatters on pumpkin cut-outs. You will see these on display in the hallway outside of the classroom. Take a look!

For the past couple of weeks we have been reciting the poem and finger play "Five Little Pumpkins," and this week the kids got to create their own "Five Little Pumpkins" art using carved potatoes as pumpkin stamps and gluing on strips of brown paper to make a gate.

The kids also had a fantastic time cutting and excavating a pumpkin this week and looking inside to find the seeds.

At the light table we had sparkly orange slime with ghosts and bats!

At our building table the children had so much fun playing with our haunted doll house.

At our creation station this week, we continued with Halloween inspired fun. We had ghosts, bats, and masks to decorate!

This week we had ice excavation at the water table! We froze all sorts of Halloween treasure in the ice and the kids had a blast melting the ice using using spray bottles, turkey basters, tongs and tweezers.

The kids love exploring our fun puzzle collection. This week we also had peg boards out with rubber bands and spiders to make webs!

We added mini pumpkins to the texture tub this week!

Free play is active and lively in the YC! They love building with blocks, playing with the animals, snuggling up in our loft and pretend play in the kitchen and with our collection of babies and dolls.

We love looking at books together!

Pickle and Baby Mabel are getting lots of love!

Circle time was full of fun with a "Five Little Monsters" finger play. Shape Monster also came back to visit, but this time he was looking for colors! We sang songs about spiders, and monsters, and read Little Pea, Franklin in the Dark, and Ten Timid Ghosts, among others. There were so many smiles and lots of laughter during carpet time!

Fall weather was in full force this week, but that didn't stop us from having a great time outside. The kids love running, swinging, climbing, and playing chase. The trucks and diggers are popular with everyone and this week, the kids discovered
the chalk and created many wonderful drawings!

As always, thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us! Next week it's finally Halloween and we will continue our spooky festivities by celebrating on Tuesday. The children are welcome to wear their costumes!

See you on Monday!

Warmly,
Christine and Meghan
