Go Away Monster! YC Teacher Meghan

The Halloween fun continued this week with a monster theme! The kids made silly monsters at our art table and we did finger plays, read books and sangs songs with monsters incorporated in.

At our building table this week the kids got busy with hammers, nails and golf tees as they perfected their hammering skills on giant pumpkins.

In our water tub we had the perfect ingredients for potions including cauldrons, spaghetti, eyeballs, ghosts and bats.

At the play dough table we had all the features to make some crazy play dough monsters.

At our fine motor table this week we had spiders made from giant puff balls and pipe cleaners that the kids could decorate with beads.

Decorating ghosts was a popular activity at creation station this week.

Bendable skeletons and shimmering orange and black balls spiced up our texture tub.

At our light table we had spider web baskets that contained lots of bugs. The kids used tongs to pull the bugs out of the web.

Taping, cutting and stapling was popular at the writing table this week.

Mabel and Pickle continue to get lots of love.

The kids played and explored all over the classroom. Here is a peek.

On Tuesday the kids started a two day monster art project. On the first day they squeezed bright colored paint all over a sheet of paper. They then folded the paper in half and used a rubber roller to rub the paint all over their paper.

Our second activity on Tuesday was playing a game called "Go Away Monster". During this game the kids reached into a bag to find missing pieces for their game board. If they pulled out a monster by mistake they would shout, "Go away monster!" and put the monster back in the bag for the next friend to find.

On Thursday the kids added features to their monster faces including eyes, horns and crazy teeth.

On Thursday the kids played a game called "Shape Monster" where they worked on shape recognition. The kids had a blast feeding the shape monster different shapes until his belly was full!

Circle time was full of fun this week. We read a fun story called The Spooky Box, sang some fun monster songs including "Horns, Fangs, Knees and Claws" and fed the shape monster.

We loved playing with your wonderful kids this week! Thank you for sharing them with us,
Meghan and Christine
