Time for Turkey in the YC - Teachers Lisa and Jelena

The turkey is a funny bird. His head goes wobble wobble. And he can only say one word: "Gobble, Gobble, Gobble!" Turkeys have been popping up all over the classroom this week!

The tractors and animals in the texture table Tuesday were replaced by terra cotta turkey pots and feathers on Thursday.

Apple pie fixings in the water tub were replaced with an inflatable roasted bird, basters, ladles, rosemary and cranberries. Such a feast!

On Thursday we made turkeys with watercolors, coffee filters and construction paper. As you saw in the photo above, these whimsical birds are hanging out in our hallway.

On Tuesday the kids built some really cool structures with acrylic blocks at the light table. Thursday there was a turkey sorting activity where they could feed the turkeys according to the colors of their tail feathers.

The little squirrels that were frolicking at our building table Tuesday were replaced with some adorable Calico Critters on Thursday.

On Tuesday everyone made their own paper plate shaker. We've been using them for games, songs and even a parade during our carpet time.

It was just another day at the office for some friends...

... and it's always important to dress for success!

We have noticed over the past few weeks that parallel play is evolving into more collaborative play. Friends are learning to share toys and ideas, and to comfort one another with a gentle hug.

In the library it's fun to recreate stories on the flannel board, and they've discovered a book where they can change the illustrations to create all kinds of crazy things!

We put out a few new puzzles - which often renews interest in  the old familiar ones.

While some areas of the classroom are always bustling, the creation station is a nice place to do something quietly.

We played a guessing game where we tried to find a fox that was hiding behind a leaf. We'll put this out at the library area for the kids to play on their own.

We learned a song about leaves and pretended to flutter to the ground. Then we went outside and got to do it with the real thing!

As the weather turns colder and the leaves have almost all fallen from the trees, we are especially grateful for our cozy mornings with your sweet children. We look forward to the coming weeks and the joy that winter holidays bring.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families 💗

Warmly,

Lisa and Jelena
