A is For Apple in the OC - Teachers Lisa and Jelena

We used apples in a wide variety of different ways this week! Monday we played an apple alphabet BINGO game, practicing letter recognition.

There were apples, pie tins, whisks and egg beaters in the water tub.

On Wednesday we measured how tall everyone was using apples. Children decorated pages for their portfolios, and we added their photos. Friends had fun measuring one another and some even found other things around the room to measure.

We rounded out our apple fun on Friday, making apple prints.

During our time together at the rug we sang A-P-P-L-E (to the tune of Bingo) and we've also been playing an alphabet soup game, learning the names and sounds of letters.

In the texture table children could play with tractors and farm animals.

There were new squirrels and tree builders out at the building table.

The kids have also been having fun with this "Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel" game from last week.

Fall colored blocks were out on our light table.

Friday was such a wet, rainy day - perfect for a 100 piece puzzle!

"Hospital" has been a popular game in the loft lately.

At the creation station there are lots of collages, and children enjoy making notes and letters at the writing table.

Here are some of the other toys and activities that have been enjoyed this week:

We've learned a new "Pumpkin Circle" yoga flow, starting as seeds and then becoming sprouts, vines, flowers, pumpkins and then seeds once more. See if your child can teach you the poses!

We are ALWAYS grateful for dry, sunny days!

In the coming week we are going to explore leaves. Before we know it, they will have disappeared and winter will be well on its way! We'll see you soon,

Teachers Lisa and Jelena
