Apples and Leaves in the OC! Teachers Christine and Meghan

This week we celebrated all things apple and fall in the Older Class!

On Monday the children had a blast measuring how many apples tall they are! This was a great chance to practice team work, patterning, and counting.

On Wednesday, we read Livingston Mouse and played the corresponding board game together.

On Friday, we used stamps made out of apples and created beautiful apple art in red, yellow, and green!

We had one last day of apples and pie making supplies in the water tub on Monday and on Wednesday we switched to kinetic sand, squirrels, and tree builders!

We had popcorn, trucks, and windmills in the texture tub this week!

Playdough is always a popular station!

Acorns and leaves adorned the light table this week! The children used tongs to sort the different colors and shapes!

Over at the building table, the children loved playing with the Calico Critters.

The book nook is always a fun place to hang out with friends and read books together!

The chidlren love painting at the art easel!

Creation station was busy as always! This week the children spent a lot of time cutting and gluing to create their own amazing creations. We also did leaf rubbings and created beautiful water color leaves.

Mabel loves to get cuddles and salad from the children!

Collaborative play is in full swing around the room! We brought in new games to play with this week, and the children had lots of fun spinning tops, working on pattern matching, and building with Legos and wooden blocks.

Circle time was a blast this week! Not only did we have fun measuring how many apples tall the children are, but we brought out our sweet mouse friend to see how many apples tall she is. The children determined that she is just one and a half apples tall. :)

This week we played alphabet soup to begin working on letter recognition. It was fun to identify each letter and find words that start with the letter.

This group sure loves listening to stories! We read several fun books including Livingston Mouse and Stellaluna.  We also played a fun color game to find a little mouse hiding behind a house.

We start and end our circle times with breath work and yoga. Ask you child to show you a few yoga moves or how to do a snake breath!

The children LOVE to dance and play instruments!

Teacher Meghan told us a sweet story about a mouse in search of a red house with a green chimey with no windows or doors. There was a special suprise inside this house -- ask your child to tell you what it was! :)

We enjoyed the beautiful fall weather at recess on Monday and Wednesday! On Friday, the rain kept us inside for a fun extended circle time.

We are looking forward to another fabulous week with your amazing children!

Warmly,
Christine and Meghan
