September is fun at Small Friends! OC - Teacher Christine

We had a fantastic first week in the Small Friends older class! All of the children had a great week playing with their friends, welcoming new friends, and following the classroom routine.

We started off the first day of school with a nature scavenger hunt outdoors in our beautiful garden.

Pickle the fish and Baby Mabel got lots of love and treats from the children this week!

The children made their memory boxes on Monday. They will add treasures to these boxes each month and take home a box full of special memories at the end of the year. On Wednesday, they painted rocks to put in our garden and had a blast doing a collaborative painting project with golf balls on Friday!

The children were busy bees as they played all around the classroom this week!

Circle time was a blast! We read two of our favorite books: Bark George and Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes. We also read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? in preparation for a special book that we are going to make together next week.

We started a new yoga series and did some deep breathing exercises! Ask your child to show you how to do a "slinky breath".

We played outside in the sunshine and the rain and found a special spot for our garden rocks.

We are looking forward to another wonderful week with your sweet children!

Warmly,
Christine and Meghan
