Elephants, Tigers and Tea in the YC- Teacher Meghan

We had such a fun week exploring elephants and tigers during the start of our two week circus theme.

We had a circus tent in the classroom, tigers and a tea set in our water tub and a wildlife safari in our texture table.

Some of our adult-led activities included painting construction paper tea cups with tea bags based on a book we read called "The Tiger Who Came To Tea" by Judith Kerr. The kids also made colorful elephants using paint dobbers,  participated in some gross motor play in the hallway using a hopscotch mat and worked on number identification and counting with an elephant link game.

The kids kept busy building with magna tiles, doing a variety of art activities, and tons of imaginative and interactive play.

The kids are so gentle and loving with Mabel. She appreciates all the attention and snuggles she receives throughout the week.

During circle time this week we learned a new yoga breath called "elephant breath" and two new poses called "gorilla pose" and "downward dog". We read some wonderful circus and animal themed books, including "Hug" by Jez Alborough and "Ten Minutes Till Bedtime" by Peggy Rathmann. We learned two new fun finger plays about elephants and popcorn. We also celebrated a birthday!

We enjoyed playing outside and were thankful for some dry days!

We are looking forward to more circus fun this week with clowns!
Fondly,
Meghan and Christine
