A Color Explosion in the YC! - Teacher Sheri

We had so much fun exploring color this week! We observed the deep yellow of sunflowers, experimented with colorful baking soda & vinegar explosions, and created colorful artwork.

The kids loved the magic of combining baking soda, vinegar, and a little color. Poof!

At the other activity table they worked on fine motor skills, squeezing and releasing pipettes of watercolor onto large coffee filters. You'll see these huge circles of color when you walk in the hallway!

Later in the week, the kids loved the sensory experience of playing with shaving cream.

Carpet time has been busy and fun! They are working on listening skills, patience, and taking turns. See if they can re-tell the Mousy Brown finger play or tell you about some of the books we read, such as The Mud Puddle, Pete the Cat and His Groovy Buttons, or The Blue Balloon!

During free play, the kids played games, mixed polka dot soup in the water tub, built with duplos on the light table, and even had time to snuggle the guinea pigs.

We have loved seeing all the collaborative play inside and outdoors!

What a wonderful first week all together. See you next week for some fun with a Circus and Clown theme!

Warmly,
Sheri and Lisa
