Color Explorations in the YC - Teacher Christine

This week the children explored the magic of color and texture through art and science projects!

On Tuesday, the children created beautiful flowers out of a giant coffee filter and liquid water color. They used pipettes and paint brushes to add color and to explore the different texture that each tool created.

At our math and science station on Tuesday, they had a blast creating mini baking soda and vinegar explosions!

On Thursday, the children created art using a coffee can and marbles coated in paint. They had a lot of fun rolling the can back and forth to create a colorful texture. These will be used as stems for the coffee filter flowers!

They also enjoyed exploring the soft and squishy texture of shaving cream!

Baby Mabel received so much love from the children this week.

Free play is so fun!

The water tub provides lots of sensory fun!

Creation station and our painting easel are very popular with this sweet class.

We had a giant sunflower from our school garden at the fine motor table to investigate with tweezers and magnifying glasses.

The children loved playing with sunflowers in the texture table.

The children made birthday cakes with play dough this week. :)

At circle time we read a silly book called Norman the Slug and another interesting story called Elephants Can Paint Too. We also enjoyed The Tiger Who Came to Tea in preparation for our tiger and elephant theme starting next week.

We also enjoyed doing yoga together and learning how to do a "volcano breath". We have been starting each circle time with a deep breathing exercise or yoga and the kids really seem to enjoy it!

Everyone loves getting outside at the end of the day for recess.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us! It has been a great two weeks of school!

Warmly,
Christine and Meghan
