Happy Valentine's Day in the YC - Teacher Christine

We had a great week celebrating friendship, Valentine's Day, and learning a bit about Chinese New Year (a few weeks late)!

On Tuesday the children made beautiful cherry blossom paintings. First they drew their stems and then, using the end of a soda bottle as a stamp, they added the pretty flowers. They also learned that cherry blossoms were put around people's homes during Chinese New Year to bring good luck.

We taught the kids a fun color matching game called "Hop Along Frog" on Tuesday.

Inspired by our Valentine's Day theme, each child made a special "love potion" to bring home. They had a great time choosing gems and sparkles to add to their potions.

The kids loved passing out the Valentine cards that they had worked so hard on to all of their friends!

At the texture table this week there were chopsticks, spoons, bowls and sparkly confetti to play with.

Snakes and fish swam into our water tub this week!

We had a Valentine's Day bakery at our play dough table.

Magnetic cars were a huge hit on the building table.

The light table was filled with bright and beautiful translucent blocks.

Here are some pictures of your wonderful children playing around the room!

They love to carry around clip boards for drawing and writing.

Building with magna-tiles is always an adventure!

Sometimes we fill our table with food and have a feast!

The kids discovered the kaleidoscopes that we added to our science station.

Baby Mabel got lots of attention and veggie treats.

We love to read!

At circle time we re-visited a silly name song called "Hickity Pickity Bumble Bee".

We also read lots of books. A few of our favorites were Vegetables In Underwear, Good Boy, Fergus!, and Hey, Pancakes!.

We always have so much fun on the playground at the end of our school day.

Next week we will start our fairy tale theme!

Warmly,
Christine and Meghan
