Dragons and Pancakes in the YC - Teacher Lisa

We had SO much fun this week with Pajama Day and Chinese New Year! I mean, how can you go wrong with pancakes and dragon parades?!?

We loved seeing everyone in their cozy pj's on Tuesday. The kids were experts at mixing, flipping and gobbling up pancakes.

They made bracelets, capes, headbands and necklaces for their stuffed animal friends.

Some friends enjoyed making houses for their stuffies out of blocks.

Our stuffies even danced with us at story time!

On Thursday we learned a little bit about different traditions during Chinese New Year. One of those is gathering beautiful cherry and plum blossoms. The children painted their own blossom branches and they look so bright and welcoming!

We played a memory game with all of the different animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Ask your child if they can remember some of them.

At the texture table this week there were chopsticks, spoons, bowls and confetti.

In the water tub, children scooped snakes out of the water and put them in jugs and critter catchers.

There were dragon puppets out at the carpet.

We even had our own dragon parade! Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Here are some more photos of your sweet kiddos playing around the room this week:

During our story time, we read If You Give a Pig a Pancake, 10 Minutes 'Til Bedtime!, and books about Chinese New Year. Teacher Sheri also read The Mitten by Jan Brett, acting it out with a real mitten and stuffed animals.

It was a little cold and wet outside, but we didn't care!

The fun continues Tuesday as we get ready to celebrate Valentine's Day :). We'll see you soon!

Warmly,
Lisa and Sheri
