The texture table took a cosmic turn when we replaced the rice with black beans and put in stars, rocketships, astronauts, and aliens!
The kids also loved the space-y items they found with the kinetic sand in the water tub!
Over at the light table, there were marbles and "moon craters." The kids could use tongs and tweezers to pick up the marbles and work on their fine motor skills. Later in the week, they also could explore the sensory space bottles made by our Older Class!
On Tuesday, the kids made space plates using glitter glue, star confetti, and stickers. They turned out great and are hanging in our room now!
We set up an overhead projector and screen, allowing the children to explore light and shadows. They loved putting different objects or their hands on the overhead to see what they looked like projected on the screen!
The kids could pretend to do some spaceship repair work using a drill set. The battery operated drill uses two modes, forward and reverse, which the kids have to figure out in order to put in and take out the screws.
The gravatron was a very exciting thing to have in the room this week! The kids must trust that they will stay balanced as the gravatron moves backwards, forwards, and around. Then they learn how to use their body to push the apparatus around.
The kids visited creation station, played play dough, and painted.
They also spent time with Ginger and Scarlet!
We had new instruments out this week and the kids really enjoyed playing with them.
Turning off the lights made reading Kitten's First Full Moon and singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" extra special.
Here are some more pictures of this sweet class!
Next week, we look forward to exploring the universe even more. Have a wonderful Spring Break and see you all soon!
Warmly,
Sheri and Lisa
