Rainbows, Leprechauns, & A Treasure Hunt in the OC! - Teacher Sheri

A healthy dose of shamrocks, leprechauns, and the color green made its way into our room this week!

The kids filled pots with gold coins and played with little leprechauns in the water tub.

At the light table, they sorted rainbow colored discs into little cups.

An activity involving Skittles candy and water also took place at the light table. After lining up the colored candies in a glass dish, our parent helper added water and the kids watched as the color came off the candies into a beautiful swirly pattern.

Nearby on the building table, kids continued to play with the castle.

At our other activity table, the kids used colored paper strips, white clouds, and cotton balls to create their interpretation of a rainbow.

We read the book How to Trap a Leprechaun and everyone collaborated on making a leprechaun contraption! The kids were so creative and engaged by taping boxes together, making tunnels and swings, and decorating their awesome playground for leprechauns.

They also bedazzled some rocks by painting them yellow and dipping them in gold glitter. Their gold rocks are amazing!

When the kids arrived on Friday, they found that leprechauns had indeed found their contraption in the classroom! And those tricky leprechauns hid their golden rocks all over the room! After finding their rocks, the kids also found a clue instructing them to find something at the end of a rainbow.

A treasure hunt ensued and the kids went in groups finding clues all over the building.

At the end of the rainbow, they each got to choose a diamond, green gem, and gold coin.

The clues were all based on a little poem the kids learned called 'X Marks the Spot." See if your child can tell you how it goes!

At our other activity table, the kids were invited to do some graphing with Lucky Charms cereal. They sorted out the different shapes, graphed them, and then ate the rest!

We continued hearing about Panda's great adventures!

Take a look at these pictures to see what else the kids were up to!

Next week, we are excited to dive into our Space theme and are sure the kids will love it, too!

Warmly,

Sheri and Lisa
