Our goal this week was to let the children experience our routines, explore their new classroom and start to get acquainted with the teachers, parents and children who will spend the year together. We think they all did a great job!
Some of their favorite activities included cars & trucks at the carpet, along with the pirate ship and rocket.
Our play dough table was another popular spot.
Friends discovered our collection of wind-up toys and puzzles, and played with a variety of games and fine-motor activities.
They used the stickers at our writing center.
Mr. Potato Head got all sorts of new body parts.
There were cooks in the kitchen...
...and artists at the easels.
There was LOTS of dumping and pouring at both the water and texture tables!
Our parent-led activities were gadget printing and getting familiar with our creation station. At the first activity, children used a variety of tools and objects to stamp designs on paper. These are on display in our classroom, so feel free to come in and take a look!
During our time together at the carpet, we blew up imaginary balloons and then read a book about a little boy with a balloon that was magic.
We sang and danced with shakers.
We read Mouse Count and were so happy when 10 little mice escaped getting eaten by a snake! In the story Bark George we met a dog who had all sorts of crazy things in his tummy.
