Happy Summer, Small Friends! (YC) Teacher Christine

The last week of school came and went so quickly. We can't believe how quickly it has flown by -- the children have grown and changed so much and it has been an absolutely delightful year.

On Tuesday one of our parent-led activities was learning how to put together jigsaw puzzles! The kids loved this activity and many of them spent a long time working hard on various puzzles. We will definitely continue to work more on puzzles next year!

Our second activity on Tuesday was a fun-filled sensory activity out in our courtyard. We pulled out a screen and provided the kids with spray bottles, foam letters, and shapes to play with.

On Thursday we created a collaborative painting with gadgets. The kids had so much fun with the different colors and shapes and ended up making three large paintings! We cut them into large hearts and they are now displayed in the classroom.

The kids also got to draw their very first self portrait on Thursday. Using paper, sharpie, and a mirror, they drew adorable portraits of themselves. We will save these and put them in their art portfolios next year along with another series of portraits that they will complete in the older class. It's so fun to see how their drawings change and evolve over the year.

We set up a castle in the texture table with princesses, knights, horses, and dragons!

We brought out our marimba this week for the kids to enjoy.

We filled the water tub with cloud dough, cups, and scoops to make ice cream cones and sundaes.

This week at creation station, we set out all sorts of odds and ends and the kids loved it! They had a blast creating all week.

We had some pretty pink play dough this week -- perfect for making cookies and cupcakes.

We brought out translucent blocks and unicorns at the light table.

At the building table we had giant foam blocks, hammers and nails.

We had a few new fine motor activities at the table this week. The kids enjoyed working collaboratively on puzzles and shape activities.

We love to read in the younger class!

Baby Mabel got lots of love and attention this week.

Here's a look at your kids playing around the room! We brought out a large set of builders this week for the carpet area. The kids loved creating all kinds of interesting structures together.

We had fun reading books at circle time, practicing for our Spring Program, and celebrating three special birthdays!

We had fun in the sun at recess!

We have absolutely loved the year with our sweet younger class and can't wait to see them again in the fall! Wishing you all an amazing summer!

Big Hugs,
Christine and Meghan
