Heart explosion in the YC- Teacher Meghan

We made the most of our lone school day this week with your sweet kids. The classroom transformed into an explosion of all things valentine including hearts and pink, purple and red themed items.

Our first parent led activity on Thursday was "heart explosions".  The kids mixed baking soda, candy hearts and lots of glitter in a heart cookie cutter. They then added droppers of pink colored vinegar and watched the explosion of bubbles this chemical reaction created.

Our second parent led activity on Thursday was using model magic to make a heart shape. These hearts will be used for a special valentine surprise!

We dyed the rice pink at the texture table and added vases and silk flowers.

We had plastic hearts, gems, tongs, scoops, cups, buckets and purple water in our water tub this week.

Our light table was filled with gems, fairies, small cups and translucent hearts.

Friends were busy creating valentine magic at creation station, the paint easels and our writing area.

Red play dough, heart cookie cutters and other heart accessories made for a fun time at the play dough area.

Our future architects had a blast with the magna tiles at the building table.

We had a variety of heart shape containers and candy hearts to sort, dump and fill at our fine motor area.

We traded some toys with the other classroom and the kids discovered a new pirate ship, rocket and race track in the classroom and were so excited by these new additions.

Here is a peek at the kids playing around the room.

At circle time we learned new valentine songs and finger plays, read a book about a kitten and a love monster and danced our hearts out to Cupid Shuffle.

We enjoyed playing in the sunny but cold weather during recess!

Hope everyone stayed warm and cozy this weekend!
See you Tuesday,
Meghan and Christine
