Who's afraid of the big bad wolf? (OC) - Teacher Meghan

This week we started our fairy tale unit and many of our activities focused on the story of "The Three Little Pigs".

On Monday the kids built structures out of foam blocks and then got a chance to be the big bad wolf and blow their structures down with a hair dryer disguised as a wolf.

The kids got to do some silly painting on Monday where they blew liquid water color around with a straw to paint their three little pig houses.

On Wednesday the kids played a game that involved logic and spatial awareness.  The kids LOVED this game and many spent much of the class period solving the different challenges. This game was available the rest of the week for the kids to play together.

On Wednesday the kids completed the first part of a two day project. They built a castle using primary colored foam blocks.

We took photos of each of their castles and on Friday they recreate their castles  using the same foam blocks dipped in paint and stamped on paper.

The kids got a chance to re-tell the story of the "Three Little Pigs" using story cards with a parent on Friday. This was a great comprehension and literacy activity.

On our building table this week we had a wooden castle with wizards, knights, princesses and dragons. The kids had so much fun acting out imaginative scenes with each other.

We had wedgets on the light table and the kids loved building tall towers with these translucent builders.

In the water tub we had a bunch of pigs and water beads. What could be more fun?

Here is a peek at the kids at play around the room.

The kids are so excited about the arrival of Panda to our classroom and had a great time sharing with the class about their adventures.

The kids were thrilled when we got the bikes out this week during recess!

Next week our fairy tale unit continues with "Jack and the Beanstalk".
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday!
