The students returned from the Thanksgiving break to see a new set up for winter and the fast approaching holidays! We left the flax seed in the texture table because it’s so fun! There were magnetic wands for attracting bells, scoops for filling buckets, lots of jewels, candy canes and trinkets to discover while digging and sifting.
Our project on Monday was to decorate a jar for a tea light and when they were dry on Friday, we added a beaded handle. They turned out so festive!
Teacher Lisa snapped photos of each of the kids with their beautiful creations.
On Wednesday, the students painted their hands green to make wreaths using their hand prints. They added a red finger print berry, finished it off with big red bow, and ta-da! Holiday wreaths.
We had a paper chain making table where the kids used their fine motor skills to make a circle. They then used cute mini staplers to staple the circle closed. Some students chose to make color patterned chains while others used a single color. Some chains stayed at school to decorate the classroom and others went home.
How many paper chain links tall are you?
At the water tub, we had bears and boats and big pitchers for filling and pouring colorful, bubbly water.
At the light table, there were clear globes to be filled with string, pom poms, and beads. To remove the objects, kids used tweezers to continue practicing those fine motor skills.
At the building table there was snow! And some Playmobil characters and animals to play in the snow.
A Candy Land shapes game was very popular.
Creation station had cut-out teddy bears, stockings, ornaments or gift boxes to decorate.
Green play dough made for some delicious cookies.
A holiday puzzle for our puzzle fans…
Around the room we are playing dress-up, legos, vacation, baking/cooking and having lunch in the kitchen, writing, reading…busy, busy, busy fun!
We played our bells during circle time and even had a bell ringing parade around the classroom!
We played a game to test our memory! Which item is missing from the tray?
We did yoga and movement with bean bags and scarves.
At the Friday Friendship circle we found out what activity we like to play in the snow.
Our recess time has been full of fun and games, thus not a lot of photos!
We continue our festive holiday theme next week with more projects and new activities in the different areas of the classroom!
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday.
Warm regards,
Teachers Jelena and Lisa
