The kids were busy little elves this week as they prepared a holiday gift for their families. The kids got into the holiday spirit and were so excited to create something special for you. We did not take any photos of the process because we want your gifts to be a surprise. The gifts will go home next week.
More holiday fun filled the classroom this week and the kids kept busy exploring and playing with all of the new festive activities.
We have been reading different versions of gingerbread stories and this week the kids got to make gingerbread people collages. The collages turned out so cute and it was so fun to see each child's unique spin on their project.
At the texture table we had a variety of magnetic and non-magnetic red and green items sprinkled about. The kids used magnetic wands and scoops to collect and play.
At creation station we had beads, bells and pipe cleaners for making jingle bell bracelets. The kids made bracelets through out the week and we used their bracelets for a few bell inspired songs at circle time.
We had a new game out this week that the kids LOVED. It is a candy land shape matching game and it was played frequently throughout the week.
Another activity we had available this week was giant magnet boards wrapped like presents and bows with magnets glued on to them. The kids tossed the bows at the magnet boards to see if they could make them stick.
At the building table we had a winter scene with snowmen, Santa, reindeer and a sleigh. The kids loved acting out a variety of stories with these props.
Here are a few pictures of your children busy at play around the room.
At circle time this week we read holiday books, sang a variety of songs using our jingle bell bracelets and played the "What's Missing?" game. One of the kids favorite finger plays is about a peppermint stick. Ask them to recite it for you!
We only have one more week until winter break. We are so thankful for your amazing kids and the time we get to spend with them each week.
See you Monday,
Meghan and Christine
