We had a fantastic second week. Our room was buzzing with activity!
Our theme this week was sunflowers. We learned the parts of a sunflower and that there are many sizes and colors of sunflowers. We used tweezers to remove seeds from our giant sunflower to take home.
The sunflower theme continued throughout the week at the play dough, texture table, and the art project for the week.
The play dough area had beautiful yellow play dough with yellow jewels, leaves and sunflower seeds.
The texture table had vases that could be filled with corn and silk sunflowers. (Or not!)
On Wednesday, we sponge painted sunflowers! Each student’s sunflower creation brightens the room from our bulletin boards.
The water tub was set up for Polka Dot Soup with magnet wands to collect the colorful discs and balls! By the end of the week we got sponges to ‘wash the dishes’, all while looking glamorous in our dress-ups!
We acted out the Brown Bear, Brown Bear What DoYou See book on Monday and by Wednesday, the students performed it by themselves!
On Friday, we introduced more block shapes which encouraged lots of building.
Of course we read many, many books this week including the I am a Kindness Hero and The Invisible Boy. The books focused on the themes of kindness, being a friend, and acceptance.
Playing outside is always fun!!
All the students are doing an amazing job of getting the hang of the daily routines and playing together. Looking forward to week three and a circus theme!
