One of our parent led activities this week focused on sorting and identifying colors in a fun activity where the kids fed multi-colored squirrels matching colored snacks.
The kids made fun fall trees using scrub brushes, paint, glitter and shimmery leaves.
On Thursday the kids got a chance to sample red, green and yellow apples and decide which color tasted the best. We then graphed the results.
Earlier in the week we read a book called Owl Babies by Martin Waddell. On Thursday the kids got to make their own fluffy owl baby using a pine cone as the base. These turned out so cute and they are on display in our hallway, come take a peek!
Around the room we had new fall activities available for the kids to explore. At our building table we had Lincoln Logs and construction vehicles. We had translucent blocks for building at the light table and all the fixings to make apple pie at the water tub. The kids loved the farm scenes we had at our texture table and flannel board!
All around the room the kids were engaged in collaborative and parallel play. We love to see the sweet friendships starting to develop as the kids get to know each other better.
During circle time this week we read some wonderful fall books including Owl Babies by Martin Waddell and Bear and Squirrel are Friends...Yes Really! by Deb Pilutti. We did a pumpkin yoga sequence and learned some super fun new fall songs.
The kids have loved these dry and sunny fall days at recess.
Next week the fall fun continues with exploration of leaves!
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend,
Meghan and Christine
