Signs of the Season in the YC - Teacher Lisa

We were busy little elves this week, working on projects to put under the Christmas tree. We're keeping the details under wraps, but here is a peek at some of the things we've been up to...

The one parent activity we can tell you about was a shape game. Children rolled a die with various shapes on it, found the matching shapes among a collection of button ornaments, and then hung them on a little tree.

There was also a gingerbread candy game that they had lots of fun with!

We kept the activities around the room the same on Tuesday and then put new ones out for Thursday. The new ones will be out next week as well. The car wash in the water tub was a sudsy favorite!

The snow scene on our building table made way for some awesome candy builders - so fun and tasty-looking :)

The magnets and holiday trinkets in our texture table were replaced by trees and ornaments.

There were holiday cookie cutters out at our play dough table. Our bakers stayed busy making all kinds of treats.

At the creation station there were all kinds of holiday shapes and collage materials.

The Legos are always popular, as is our fishing game.

Here are some of the other things the kids enjoyed doing during their free time...

We were very lucky to have a special guest join us for our story time on Tuesday to share with us about Hanukkah. She read us a story and brought dreidels for everyone to take home. Thank you, Grandma Harriet!

We read lots of stories about bears, including Merry Christmas, Big, Hungry Bear, Bear Wakes Up and Gotcha! We played a game where the children took turns pretending to be grizzly bears, fast asleep. We also went on an exciting bear hunt. See if your child can tell you about it!

The sky was brilliant blue and the air was crisp for recess this week. We all came in with rosy cheeks!

We will (literally) wrap things up on Tuesday and then will celebrate the season with all of you on Thursday at our program. We have had SUCH a fun school year so far with your sweet children and we're looking forward to all of the adventures that 2019 will bring!

Blessings of the season to you and your families,
Lisa and Sheri
