Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the YC- Teacher Meghan

The room had transformed on Tuesday and it was beginning to look a lot like Christmas. We welcomed this holiday season with a variety of festive activities for the kids to explore.

On Tuesday the kids decorated bears with coffee grounds, google eyes and festive red bows.

On Tuesday the kids also made jingle bell bracelets that they got to use at circle time. The kids loved stringing festive beads and bells onto red and white pipe cleaners.

On Thursday the kids had a glitter and sparkle party while decorating contact paper ornaments that we have hung in the windows in the classroom. We love all the sparkle these have added to our space.

On Thursday the kids got the chance to decorate a mini tree with different shaped ornaments. The kids took turns rolling a dice labeled with different shapes to see which shape ornament they would put on their tree. This was such a fun way to work on shape identification and fine motor skills.

At the texture table this week it looked like a Christmas tree farm. In the table were a variety trees with a ton of different ornaments to decorate the trees.

In our water tub we had a car washing station with lots of sponges and sudsy bubbles.

On our light table we had translucent green trees and a variety of sparkly gems and bells to decorate with.

Green play dough was perfect for making ginger bread men and holiday treats.

We had festive flannel figures and finger puppets at our flannel board.

Candy builders were a huge hit at our building table this week.

At creation station green trees and giant snowballs were the perfect bases to decorate with holiday stickers and sparkly bling.

The easels and writing area got a lot of use this week as the kids painted, stapled and stamped.

A Candyland game and a fishing game kept many of the kids' attention this week.

Around the room books were read, picnics were enjoyed and several pairs of glasses were worn.

At circle time this week we did some fun movement songs, sang jingle bells with our new bracelets, and read some wonderful books including When You Were Small and There Was A Cold Woman Who Swallowed Some Snow.

We said goodbye to our wonderful classmate who is moving. We wish him and his family the best. We will miss you all!

This week we have so many fun things planned, we can't wait!
See you on Tuesday,
Meghan and Christine
