Making our way into the new year in the YC

What a fabulous start we had on Tuesday! The room was abuzz with activity. At the project table the students are invited to do the project for the day. Tuesday was stamping a wintery scene with white paint and then making it sparkle with some glitter!

The water tub was filled with “snow” (baking soda and conditioner), arctic animals, some gems and baskets. If you shake the basket it looks like it’s snowing on the animals.

The texture table was set up with polar bears playing on ice in the rice! Lots of scooping and treasures to find as well.

The students could dress a snowman at the light table.

At the building table there was a super fun and challenging marble run!

Play dough is always available.

Creation station evolves with the season. We had cut tissue to decorate white mittens as a colorful winter activity.

The puzzles were super popular. We have some very good puzzlers!

At the fine motor table we had some wind up toys, shape and color sorting, and a pom pom pattern making ice cube tray.

The carpet area saw a lot of traffic with cars, trucks, emergency vehicles and the occasional fire fighter checking in!

We read several books at our 2 book times. We danced with scarves like snow flakes and like fish to the tune from Laurie Berkner Band “The Goldfish”, our all-time favorite song. You’ll have to take our word for it since we don’t have pictures of any of that!

Last but not least, our outdoor time. We go out if the weather permits, and sometimes we make it just between the rain drops!

We started the week with our new students integrating seamlessly with our returning students. Everyone explored the classroom and enjoyed our new January theme.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone very soon.
Stay well,
Teachers Jelena and Lisa
