Happy New Year!

Oh, the rain outside is frightful, but the classroom is so delightful....and since we've no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Even though the snow that fell over winter break is long gone, and it was a rainy week, we had lots of snowy fun inside.

In the tub we made snow out of coconut hair conditioner and baking soda. If your child came home covered in white powder, that's why!

There were polar bears with rice in the texture table, and some new winter-themed puzzles that these kiddos put together in no time.

At the light table there were supplies for building snow people, and at the creation station the kids made tissue paper collages on mittens.

On Wednesday we made snow scenes with stamps, paint and glitter. These are on display in our hallway.

Friday we made sculptures with marshmallows and toothpicks - they are on display in our hallway as well (take a peek inside the display case)!

It wasn't all about snow - there was a marble run on the building table and the kids did a great job assembling different structures. This is a great toy for trial-and-error problem solving and patience.

We received a donation of new dress-up clothes, which inspired a doctor's office in the loft and a musical performance around the puppet stage.

Here are some of the other great things that were happening during our free choice time:

At the carpet we did some arctic animal yoga, learned a new scarf song, danced to The Goldfish Song, drove our pretend cars, played sticks and drums and read stories. Ask your child to tell you about Big Fuzzy or Polar Bear Scare.

For our Friendship Circle, children each shared something they enjoyed doing at school on Friday.

Even though it was a rainy week, we got lucky during our recess times and on Friday there was even a hint of sun!

It was GREAT to be together after our time away and the kids got back into the groove quickly and easily. We'll have some more snowy fun this week!

We'll see you soon :)
