PJs, Pancakes, and Dragon Parades in the OC! - Teacher Sheri

What a fun and interesting week we had! We introduced the kids to the customs of Chinese New Year and threw Pajama Day in there as well. Take a look at all the great things we were up to:

A highlight this week was wearing our pajamas to school and making pancakes! It was fun to see everyone in their cozy clothes.

The kids loved stirring batter, flipping pancakes, and gobbling them up.

We also had materials out to make accessories for our stuffies, like capes, bracelets, and headbands.

We danced with our stuffed animals at carpet time, too. :)

We continued with our self portrait series, having the children observe and draw themselves, then add their picture to their portfolio. This activity is a really valuable skill and is so informative of their progress through the months.

You may have noticed some crystals growing in boxes by the windows. The kids participated in this really fun science experiment by mixing ingredients and color. By the next day, we all got to see the magic happen.

After reading some books about Chinese New Year, we did some activities to go along with it. The kids made some absolutely gorgeous cherry blossom pictures by drawing branches with marker and stamping pink blossoms on.

They also got some math practice in by measuring yarn noodles with unifix cubes. After they were finished with that, they received a traditional Red Envelope with a lucky penny inside!

We had fun having a Dragon Parade at music time!

There were snakes in the water tub...

Translucent blocks at the light table....

And Fisher Price on the building table!

We jump into next week with hearts and flowers on our minds! We will be celebrating Valentine's Day and much more.

Until then, take good care!

Sheri and Lisa
