Pajama Day and Exploding Hearts in the YC - Teacher Meghan

It was Pajama Day on Tuesday and we loved seeing your sweet kids in their pj's and it was an honor to meet their favorite stuffies!

Pajama Day would not be complete without pancakes. The kids loved pouring and mixing the batter and then watching the pancakes cook on the griddle.

The best part of the process was getting to eat their hard work!

The kids also made crowns, bracelets and necklaces for their stuffed animals.

During circle time we read stories about pancakes and pajamas and did a dance with our stuffed animals.

On Thursday Valentine's Day fun took over. We did a science experiment in which we watched the chemical reaction that occurs when baking soda and vinegar are mixed together. We made this even more exciting by dyeing the vinegar pink and adding glitter and candy hearts to the mixture.

We also made bags for Valentine's Day next week. The kids used markers, heart stamps and colorful dobbers to decorate their bags. These bags will be used next Thursday to collect Valentines from their friends when we celebrate.

Around the room we had a variety of Valentine themed activities.

We had  silk flowers and vases in the texture table.

Unicorns, fairies and hearts on the light table.

Pink water, gems and flower petals in the water tub.

We love the friendships and collaborative play that is starting to occur in the classroom.

On Thursday we read a hilarious story about a moose, did love yoga and played heart hide and seek.

Recess was a little damp this week but that did not keep us from having fun.

Next week we will learn a bit about Chinese New Year and celebrate Valentine's Day!

See you on Tuesday,
Meghan and Christine
