Valentine's Week in the YC - Teacher Christine

We had such a lovely Valentine's week in the younger class!

Our texture table remained decked out with flower bouquets and vases along with pretty red hearts. The kids loved scooping and pouring lots of colorful rice into and out of the vases.

On Tuesday we decorated our Valentine's Day bags with sponge stamps in pink and purple and sprinkled them with glitter.

Also on Tuesday, the kids decorated hearts with buttons and gems in white, pink, and red to create a special gift for their parents.

On Thursday, we made slime! In groups of four, the kids combined glue, water, and liquid starch along with water color and glitter to make their very own slime. The kids loved to mix and knead the slime.

Friends enjoyed squishing soft pink play dough this week and making heart cookies to share. :)

We built skyscrapers at the building table with our ever-popular magna tiles.

The book nook was a hit this week with a big group gathering to read and play a flannel heart hiding game on Thursday.

The water tub was full of red and white gems and pink petals for the kids to play with. We love to add soap to the tub for added fun with bubbles!

The light table had fairies, gems, and numbered hearts to play with.

Baby Mabel and Pickle were well cared for by the kids this week, as always.

The kids love to do puzzles and sorting activities.

Creation station was full of hearts! We added glitter glue this week, and the kids took their creations to a whole new sparkly level!

Here's a look at your kids playing around the room.

Circle time is always so much fun for the kids and the teachers. We read books with themes of friendship and love -- Crankenstein was a hit as well as Guess How Much I Love You, HedgehugsThe Cow Loves Cookies, and an exciting pop up book called Love Bugs

We listened to and acted out a fun new song about fish that ride bikes, take showers, and brush their teeth! This is definitely a new favorite.

We played an exciting flannel heart hiding game. This was lots of fun and a great way for the kids to practice raising their hands and taking turns.

We celebrated a special birthday!

We sang a sweet song called "Hearts and Kisses".

Next week we will make love potions to look at over the light table and have fun with magnet painting and shaving cream marbling.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us and for making Small Friends such a wonderful community. We are grateful for all of you!

Warmly,
Christine and Meghan
