Thanksgiving Fun in the YC - Teacher Lisa

Even though we only had one day with them last week, we had lots of fun celebrating Thanksgiving with your sweet kiddos before the long holiday weekend.

We basted inflatable turkeys in the water tub, dressing them with fresh cranberries and rosemary.

Last week one of the children requested that we bring the Magna-tiles out, so we had them on our building table. These are such a wonderful toy and lead to lots of creative and open-ended play. If you're looking for a good gift idea we would highly recommend them!

At the creation station there were a variety of fall shapes to decorate with markers, feathers, confetti and leaf-shaped pasta.

One of our parent-led activities Tuesday was making applesauce. The children all took turns cutting apples and putting them in the pot to simmer. We added cinnamon and some of the children returned to the table over and over to stir, mash and stir some more. Then during snack time we added a little whipped cream on top and YUM!

Our other parent-led activity was making shakers. Children used markers and stickers to decorate paper plates. Then they filled them with corn, seeds and beans, and stapled them closed.

They used them as excellent accompaniment during our music/movement time!

Here are some of the other things that were going on in our classroom on Tuesday:

During our group time, we played a game about a ladybug hiding behind leaves and learned a song about a scarecrow.

We practiced our volcano breaths and celebrated a birthday.

We ran and played outside in the crisp fall air.

We sure enjoyed our day together and look forward to more holiday fun in the coming weeks!

Warmly,
Lisa and Sheri
