The Itsy, Bitsy Spider is Here! YC - Teacher Lisa

The itsy, bitsy spider went up the water spout...and into the play dough...and all over the place this week in our classroom!

The children counted the number of spiders that could climb "up the spout". (Quite a few, as it turns out!)

At the water tub there was lots of splashing as spiders were washed away over and over again.

At the art table, children made two different kinds of webs this week. The first was with a friend, rolling paint-covered golf balls across paper webs, adding glitter, and then gluing a spider on top.

The other was a solo project, sticking different colors and textures of yarn to contact paper webs and then adding spiders. Both projects are hanging in our classroom, so come in and take a look!

They sang about itsy, bitsy spiders and GREAT BIG SPIDERS, and learned a song about elephants having enormous fun in spider webs.

We always like to have a face-painting station the day after our ice cream social, and the kids had fun with this activity!

They also had fun playing with pumpkins in the texture table, the haunted house, and the many different toys and games around our classroom.

Teacher Sheri read a story about a spider who could spin webs in all sorts of shapes and the children brought matching shapes to the flannel board as they were mentioned in the story.

Our yoga breathing this week was smelling flowers and blowing out candles.

We were grateful for sun and fun on the playground!

The week ahead is all about monsters as we continue our countdown to Halloween. We sure have fun with your sweet children and love our Tuesdays and Thursdays with them!

We'll see you soon,
Lisa and Sheri
