Fun with Pumpkins in the YC - Teacher Meghan

We had so much fun with pumpkins this week. We did pumpkin themed art, hammered nails into pumpkins and did a little pumpkin excavation.

At the building table this week we had giant pumpkins with golf tees, nails and hammers for the kids to practice their eye - hand coordination. The kids looked so cute in their safety goggles as they hammered away.

Spooky translucent shapes and picture frames were fun to play with at the light table.

The kids had a blast melting ice at our water table using spray bottles and turkey basters. It was hard work freeing all sorts of Halloween creatures trapped in ice.

The kids made jack-o-lantern salad spinner art. First the kids squirted orange and yellow paint onto a paper plate and then they spread the paint by spinning the salad spinner. The kids then glued on eyes and a mouth to complete their spooky pumpkin faces.

The kids also painted giant orange pumpkins using metallic paint and fly swatters. Both art projects are hanging up in the classroom so come take a peek!

The kids loved pumpkin excavating this week. They sawed on pumpkins using pumpkin carving tools. A few brave kids also got their hands messy scooping out pumpkin seeds and guts from the interior of the pumpkin.

The kids stayed busy stamping, taping, building, reading and dressing up!

We have had such a fun week with your little ones. We are looking forward to celebrating Halloween with everyone on Thursday.
Happiness and hugs,
Meghan and Christine
