Valentine Celebrations and Exploding Hearts in the OC - Meghan and Christine

We had such a fun week with the kids. On Monday we celebrated Valentine's Day. The kids passed out valentine's to each of their friends and then got to take a bag full of goodies home.

On Wednesday we did a science experiment to see what type of chemical reaction occurs when baking soda and pink colored vinegar are combined. We added some candy hearts and heart shaped cookie cutters and the result was heart explosions.

On Friday we did a super fun and super messy art project that involved shaving cream and liquid water color. These marble prints turned out so cool! Come take a peek, they are on display in the classroom.

At our texture table we had a bunch of heart shaped containers and scoops.

Our water tub was full of Valentine bling this week!

At our building table we had these super cool primary colored builders. It was so fun to see all the creations the kids came up with using these simple shapes.

Creating art using a variety of mediums is one of the kids favorite activities at school.

This week we had chocolate scented play dough. The kids made chocolate candy, chocolate cake, chocolate cookies and chocolate cupcakes. It was a chocolate extravaganza!!

At our light table we had a counting game that used translucent hearts and buttons.

Here are some photos of your children at play around the room.

During circle time this week we read several valentine theme books, learned a silly song about a worm named Herman and did a song with sticks as accompaniment.

We had some sunshine and dry weather this week, which always makes recess so much fun!

We had a wonderful week with your sweet kids. Just a reminder there is no school on Monday, due to President's Day.

Hugs,

Meghan and Christine
