Holiday Happenings in the OC - Teachers Lisa & Jelena

From candy builders to tree decorating to spinning the dreidel, there was so much happening in our classroom throughout the week!

At the texture table ornaments were hung on the branches with care.

Hershey bars, peppermint twists, starlight mints and licorice whips were a huge hit at the building table!

There were trees to decorate at the light table and lots of tops to spin at another table nearby.

There was a new matching game for the children to play, as well as several new puzzles for them to put together.

Our "car wash" made for some super sudsy shenanigans. Soap bubbles for days!

Little elves were busy at the writing center and creation station making surprises for friends and loved ones.

The Gingerbread Girl made an appearance at the play dough table, along with other yummy treats.

Speaking of gingerbread, we've been enjoying lots of different versions of The Gingerbread Man. During Friday's friendship circle everyone shared which one(s) they've liked the most. See if your preschooler can tell you which ones we've read!

Our big project this week is a secret, and we don't want to give too much away so we'll just share a few photos...

We read a book about Hanukkah, learned what a menorah is, and tried our hands at the dreidel game.

Our dramatic play area is always busy and provides many opportunities for listening, sharing, collaborating and problem-solving.

We danced to several different songs during story time: "Kids in Motion", "The Twelve Days of Christmas", "Jingle Bells", and a snowflake song. We also had some parades around the classroom ringing our bell instruments.

On Friday the kids got the blocks out and built all kinds of cool structures. We can't wait to get these out again Monday!

The weather's been a little bit unpredictable, but we still try to get outside if at all possible for some welcome fresh air and space to run.

In the coming week we will wrap gifts and have a little more holiday fun before wishing everyone a wonderful winter break. We'll see you all soon!

Warmly,

Lisa & Jelena
