Butterflies in the OC! - Teacher Sheri

The butterflies hatched and it was a very exciting week!

It was such a highlight for the kids to get a closer look in the butterfly tent.

One of the other activities this week was was creating symmetrical butterflies. Symmetry can be a difficult concept at first, but the kids were up for the challenge and chose pairs of embellishments to place on their butterfly. They turned out great!

At the other activity table, they played butterfly BINGO!

Later in the week, the kids collected materials from outside to create an insect habitat.

Then they molded an insect from model magic dough and decorated it. They made the most interesting insects and they can be seen in our display case!

On Friday, the kids began the first part of a multi step activity. They began by making a black line drawing of their face. On the next school days, they will add color to their face and features. The kids will love the way this project turns out!

Frogs, insects, and lily pads filled the water tub.

The bristle blocks at the building table were great for friends to do some building.

The kids kept very busy with activities and play this week!

We continued hearing about Panda.

In addition, kids whose grown ups are parent helping are invited to help lead our Thankful Poem before snack. That has been a sweet addition!

We headed up to the library for story time and we enjoyed lots of outdoor play time!

This is such a fun time of year in the Older Class. The kids really spend a lot of time playing together and we love watching them mature and get ready for their next school adventure! Looking forward to seeing you next week!

Warmly,

Sheri and Lisa
