Ahoy Matey with the OC-Teacher Susie

We had a great time with an ocean theme in our room this week!

Our water table was full of sea creatures.

Pirates invaded our building table.

We had beautiful translucent plastic sea themed items on our light table.  The kids had fun separating them by color or type.

Kinetic sand is a must for ocean week!  We had little sea creatures, shovels and sand castle forms available for the kids to explore this area with.

Creation station had ocean stencils on it.

Our seed table was full of tropical fish and turtles.

Our flannel board had an underwater scene on it with lots of pieces to add and play with.

On Monday we made puffer fish art.  The kids used a textured ball to create the fish body and added eyes, a mouth and fin. We have them on display outside our room.  They are super cute!

We also went fishing for letters on Monday.  The kids caught a letter and then practiced writing it in sand.  This was a super fun way to combine play with learning!

On Wednesday we made jellyfish with paper bags.  This was a great way for us to incorporate practicing cutting skills.

Our second activity on Wednesday was sorting shells by size.  We had magnifying glasses out for extra exploration.

Here are some pretty sweet snapshots of your kids during free play.

We finished our first round of Panda and have had so much fun sharing about his travels.  We will start our second round of taking him home on Monday.

As always, thank you for sharing your children with us!
